We thought riding four STPs (Seattle-to-Portand) was enough. We rode our last one in 2003 in one day. Spencer has been volunteer with a program of the Cascade Bicycle Club designed to encourage young BIPOC to ride bikes. Named after African-American world champion cyclist Marshall “Major” Taylor, the Major Taylor Project (MTP) empowers youth through bicycling. In after-school bicycling clubs MTP students explore their communities, build confidence and leadership skills, and discover their power to effect change. We signed on and did training rides with the teens and acted as adult escorts for the 2-day ride. Below are some of the photos along the way. Click on the first slide to see a slide show. The slides are identified with a short caption.
