We packed our stuff onto Cascade Bike Club (CBC) trucks and stepped onto a bus to take us to Post Falls, Idaho. That was the starting place for this year’s RAW. Seven hours later, our soon-to-be community of cyclists were setting up camp in preparation for a week long journey. We found friends from last […]

74 miles Post Falls, ID to Usk, WA Today we rode to Spokane, then turned north. We traveled through several small communities (Colbert, Elk) until we got to Usk, a thriving metropolis that boasts a building labeled “Usk Mall, Groceries, Laundry, Taxidermy, and Video Rentals”. 79.6 miles: Curlew Falls to Coulee Dam The troops wanted a relatively easy day today. The organizers told us it was an “overwhelmingly downhill day” with one 5 mile climb on Manila Road. They were right. They just weren’t completely candid about how steep that climb was. We scooted out of camp and into Republic. […]

57 miles: Coulee Dam to Soap Lake We got a treat to start the day. We were allowed to ride over the top of the dam, after removing all backpacks or panniers that might be carrying explosives. The view was outstanding. Leaving Grand Coulee we happened upon Gehrke Windmill Garden. The morning flew by as […]
