Welcome to the newly made-over S2 Cycle website. This site started in 2001 in HTML code. In 2012 when we did our Coast to Coast Tour we blogged daily using WordPress. When we returned I couldn’t bare to keep working in the HTML site so we arduously converted years of posts into WordPress. It’s been 6 years and that theme is no longer supported and was causing many issues. So once again we took some time to update to a current theme, the one I use to develop clients sites, called DIVI. With 250+ posts it took a lot of time. Thankfully Spencer helped a lot. If you’ve been here before things should look pretty familiar. Everything is still in the same place as far as navigation and we found a way to keep the mapping too. We hope you like the new site. Let us know if you find any glitches.

2012 Update

We had so much fun blogging about our cross-country trip this summer that we just HAD to bring our circa 2001 (very outdated looking) website up to today’s standards. So with much copying / pasting and reorganizing, we were happy to present our fully updated website in 2012. But finally even that update became outdated to the extent that the theme stopped working in the new version of WordPress and PHP. So we undertook the arduous task of converted the old theme to the new. You may still find some ugly artifacts but hopefully we’ve caught most of them. And certainly going forward things will look better. You can still look things up by category like seeing all our STP posts or all our NWTR posts, etc. You’ll notice that each section has context relevant sidebars so for instance in the cycling section displays all the cycling pages  in the sidebar in addition to the top navigation and the Cross Country tour displays each of the weeks and the overview.

You’ll find it organized by week under Coast to Coast Tour. And if you’ve followed the old site you’ll still find all the old familiar pages about Spencer and Sheila and our life together including things like our food choices, our spiritual path, our cats, and our relationship. The newest stuff is about our big Milestone Celebration that celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary, Spencer’s 60th birthday AND the completion of our cross country tour. And of course we have a whole section on ways we all can make a difference.

Another thing that’s nice about the new site that you can now leave comments to share resources and you can subscribe if you want to be kept up to date when we make new posts. So be sure to let us know what you think and what topics you’d like to see us cover in the future. We hope the new format will encourage us to write more. Enjoy!
